What I Registered For
I asked, researched, and watched videos and when that all became too much I crossed my fingers. When making the registry I learned there are ‘classic, gold standards’, ‘what everyone uses’, ‘what’s trendy’, ‘it doesn’t matter what brand you use’, and ‘depends on your baby so buy it all and hope 1 clicks’ categories….COOL. This is not everything I registered for or purchased but the bigger items that have some notes behind them.
Stroller / Car Seat: I knew we 100% wanted the Doona and my friends in Houston who live a similar life to me highly recommended getting it. When it came to a standard stroller that is where it became a little OY! So many people have the Uppa Baby, and it is beautiful, but me being me I decided to deep dive and research all similar strollers and watch video reviews. After truly what could have been months of debating what to get, because these things are pricey to purchase yourself or ask someone to get you, I made the call on the verge of tears on FT with a friend. I had heard about the Jools stroller, which is the same idea as the Doona (bassinet and seat attachment, stroage, etc.) and came across it on mega sale! All this to say, get the stroller you want not what you feel is cool - no. one. cares! Someone told me in the beginning, “They are all heavy, they all practically do the same thing, and they all have pros and cons” and that really stuck with me.
Carriers: My girlfriend, who has 3 girls, highly recommended the Solly Baby wrap for when they are itty bitty. I am eager for it arrive so I can practice tying it with a stuffed animal! I also got the Babybjorn carrier that goes from 7 to 40 lbs and even though it starts at 7lbs it felt a little bulky for a newborn so I am planning on using the wrap until I feel comfortable putting her in the bigger one.
Swaddles / Sleep Sacks: Dear lordy, could there be more swaddles and sleep sacks out there?! This was the number 1 “You just have to get a few and see which she likes the most”. So fingers crossed she likes one of the what feels like a zillion we have!
Bassinet: As much as I wanted a pretty wicker one I decided to go for function over style - mainly because of one reason, my friend made such a good point that they’re so pretty but not collapsable so then you’re stuck with a semi largish item to store.
I’ll report back in a few months on what I am loving, not loving and wish I got sooner.
