Her Locus // Taylor Davies

So first off I want to introduce this new series "her locus" which will feature bloggers sharing the center (locus) of their closet, that one item they will never part with...well without kicking and screaming. To kick off this series we have the lovely, incredibly fashionable Taylor Davies of Shut Up, I love That Shirt On You. Her name should be familiar to you, and if its not it needs to be, she shares not only her personal style that is so relatable but also amazing  "mid week music moments "that make we think we need to be real life friends (that cool with you?)shut up I love that shirt on youIt was hard for me to choose just one locus, one center of my style. I'm definitely one of those girls that finds a uniform that works and I hardly deviate from it too much. If I had to pick one item though, that sees me through season after season, it's my Ray-Ban aviators. Believe it or not, I got my first pair in France, at the airport on my way back from a month-long trip when I was 17. At the time it didn't even register as foolish to buy an American brand abroad. Anyway, I had this pair (dark lenses, gold frames) and wore them religiously until I was 24 and had moved from Seattle to NYC. One evening when I was working on a sailboat at South Street Seaport, I leaned over to unload a box onto the dock, and they slipped from the neck of my shirt where they were hanging - to the bottom of the East River. I was legitimately devastated. In a very sweet and sentimental gesture, my dad replaced my overboard gold shades with silver ones that Christmas. Those are the ones I wear almost daily now - a stylish reminder to never put my glasses in my shirt neck again... and of my wonderful family.
