Custom Oushak Rug

Something to know about me before thinking “Oh my gosh how extra, she got a custom-made rug for her nursery! Eye roll", is that I LIVE for finding what I want at a good price. I have loved creating a roladex of people who have helped me bring my dreams to life in our home at a price point that is not much more than buying it retail. Like it brings me creepy joy to know/share that something was made and it is exactly 100% what I was wanting and was only ~$200 more than a popular retailer whose item I don’t like. I hope this isn’t coming off bratty, I just love a hunt.

Okay the rug, I knew I wanted a colorful Oushak and I looked at the companies we all follow on IG to see what they had and inquired about custom pricing. Warning, I am going to get into $$ here to be fully transparent. Many of the rugs I was looking at were around 2k and I just could not pull the trigger so I took to my favorite place, Etsy. There are a lot of rug vendors on Etsy but I came across Carpets Bazaar - they are a star seller with over 1k sales and great reviews which are all obviously great signs! My #1 tip on Etsy is to message sellers, ask if they do custom, and ask about materials - they want to sell and are all usually very responsive. I asked CB if they do custom colors, and sent a photo of a rug I had seen online and loved. She told me they did and told me the price, their 8x10s are a little over ~$1,045(with free shipping) and she quoted me $1,120 for custom colors. So $100ish dollars to have the exact colors on a rug you’re paying a lot of money for! From there we zoomed and went through every single section of the rug pulling colors from my inspo photo and placing them in until it was perfect. I not expecting her to want to zoom and do this and was SO impressed! Afterward, she sent me the final mockup and once it was in production shared photos which were so fun to see! The rug arrived around a month and a few weeks later.

The rug is soo soft and thick and the colors are just beautiful! So far we are both super happy with it and next time we need a rug of this style will be going back to Carpets Bazaar. And just to add to their credibility, a friend of mine got a rug from them for their dining room and loves it too. Now, I cannot speak to how it cleans since it’s just us in there now but I am assuming it will be like any other rug.
